Wingnutsh Shay Da Durndesht Thingsh (Volume I)
As the topic implies, I don't think the material needs much of an introduction other than what the subject matter is. So, what follows is a portion of stuff from wingnuts that I read or listen to every day -- raw and uncensored.
Abortion:
When possible, innocent people should be protected. That protection in my mind sometimes you have to lock up or just outright kill guilty people depending on the severity of the crime. The case that got everyones panties in a bind was that of abortion doctors that murder innocent people every day. I have no problem with them finding a massive shortening of their lives. It might not end the practice, but it will end his or her ability to kill kids. One down, many to go. It is all in the effort to protect innocents. The fetus can not fight back and save itself, so someone has to.
Waco (Same Wingnut):
The Davidians big crime was that they dared to have guns that others think they should not.
Now, while you try to wrap your noggin about these, I think I need to test a theory I'm working on called "Selective Self-Inflicted Amnesia" where upon after reading or hearing things as stupid and idiotic such as the above, it may very well be possible to minimize further damage from them on some later date by forcibly driving the harrowing experience completely out of ones short and long term memories after administering a requisite number of sharp self-inflicted blows to the head using anything less loving than a feather down pillow yet not as deadly as a two pound monkey wrench (example: a metal folding chair).

Yakity Yak
Earlier yesterday evening, I sought emergency medical attention due to extreme pain in my right hip that's been going on the past 3 or 4 days, leaving me with hardly any rest. After a few hours spend in the ER resulting in a shot of Toridal in the ass, x-rays coming back negative, over $30 in perscriptions that I can't fill because I don't have the $30 nor insurance, and an admonition to recieve follow-up care from a specialist who reportedly won't do shit for me unless I have $300 cash on me or insurance, I'm back home hobbling around.
A few more salient points regarding the previous post:
1) If the journalists in the MSM are "overwhelmingly democrat/liberal" as we've all been told, then somebody need to explain why on God's green acres are these so-called liberal journalists "bemoaning" in their ivory towers about being challenged by ...
*gasp* ...
LIBERAL BLOGS?!?
2) NBC's David Gregory basically admits that he (and much of the Washington D.C. establishment) either live (or are used to living) in an alternate America that's divorced from reality. To put it differently, Gregory seems to believe the internet is like Mr. Roger's Land of Make-Believe where us Make-Believe bloggers dare to use real White House press conferences to support Make-Believe political views for a real American populace to consider. It's as if the bloggers aren't real Americans at all in the eyes of Gregory and the D.C. establishment who apparently are more entitled to dictate/decide not only whose a real American but whose more credentialed to deliver news and political views for an American populace to swallow without hesitation. My god, Gregory and the insulated D.C. establishment believe that they're still that important -- so important that they're under the delusion that the blogosphere shouldn't be allowed to take them to task nor influence political views on Americans and instead should be schoolmarmed and "put in their place" for daring to think we Make-Believe blogger motherfuckers aren't Americans that know more about the nation and the world than Gregory and the D.C. establishment does and can do a much better job in showing it on our Make-Believe blogs.
3) Wolffe is also completely divorced from reality when he views his job and profession as a journalist to be nothing more or less than a middle-man still deserving of a 6-figure salary instead of how the liberal blogopshere views his job and profession: TO KEEP GOVERNMENT HONEST AND EFFICIENT. How does a journalist keep Government honest and efficient? According to the late Mike Royko, journalists succeed in keeping government honest and efficient by simply reporting every drop of the Governments incompetence and hubris right on the front page. Wolffe doesn't believe that, though. Doesn't believe keeping government honest is a role MSM journalists should be playing. Instead, that role is simply dumbed down to mean "ask questions and get information". The liberal blogopshere doesn't consider Wolffe's "ask questions and get information" as the only job description of "Journalist". Instead, that's the role and job description of an overglorified STENOGRAPHER/TRANSCRIBER at best; overpaid MIDDLE MAN at worst. Colbert's roasting of them a while back sure comes to mind ...
4) Considering that 33% of Americans get their news and information directly from blogs and the internet, the bemoaning and belly-aching from Gregory, Wolffe, and the D.C. establishment about the internet and the blogs is nothing more than sour grapes from an establishment that sees their "Kilroy Was Here" epitaph etched on the walls of the bathroom stall. The blogopshere is making their asses irrelevant and instead of earning their relevancy back, they choose to whine, cry, and bellyache with Tony Snow about having their every word scoured, picked apart, and analyzed by bloggers. They don't get the notion that if they would do the job Mike Royko (hell, our founding forefathers) clearly outlined for them in the first place, the blogopshere would be gone. But the blogopshere exists today because the likes of Gregory, Wolffe, and the D.C. establishment haven't been doing their jobs, aren't doing their jobs, and apparently won't be doing their jobs anytime soon. Therefore, they insure the existance of a blogosphere that considers it an honor and a duty to keep kickin' 'em in the ass and shove their faces in their own shit for the foreseeable future ...

Divorced From Reality
Boo fucking hoo ...
In a press roundtable at the National Press Club tonight, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow led a discussion with White House correspondents about the impact of the internet on their respective jobs. Their conclusion? They don't like being challenged by blogs.
NBC News' David Gregory bemoaned how political coverage has "become so polarized in this country…because it's the internet and the blogs that have really used this White House press conferences to somehow support positions out in America, political views." Tony Snow admitted he sometimes reads blogs ("I'll occasionally punch it up") only to find "wonderful, imaginative hateful stuff that comes flying out."
Newsweek's White House correspondent Richard Wolffe added, "[Bloggers] want us to play a role that isn't really our role. Our role is to ask questions and get information. … It's not a chance for the opposition to take on the government and grill them to a point where they throw their hands up and surrender."
I still say that if the late Mike Royko had been alive these last 6 years to tag team with recently deceased Molly Ivins, there isn't a single sonofabitch in Washington -- Democrat, Republican, or MSM journalist -- that could escape neither the oceans of contempt they are being righteously assailed with from us American bloggers nor their own unilateral and public tar-and-feathering that's sure to follow next
IF THEY DON'T GET THEIR FUCKING 6-FIGURE COLLECTING SHIT TOGETHER! We don't have to be working (those of us still clinging to jobs that haven't been outsourced yet) to keep the economy going only to come home to do your fuckin' jobs for free with our blogs, you self-righteous bunch of whiny assholes. On the contrary, work and blogging is the only things --
THE ONLY THINGS -- holding us all back from exercising our 2nd Amendment and declaring
OPEN SEASON on all you rotten, thieving, crooked, corrupt-ass, incompetent bastards, your lobbyists, and your goddamned office freezers.
So you Washington D.C. elitist fuckheads in politics and the MSM have better start your every morning for the next few years down on your knees praying a sincere prayer of thanks to any god or goddess you believe in that we bloggers have remained and
still remain
that goddamned civil for the time being before opening your mouth to give Jeff Gannon style lip-service to the collective Washington cock only to turn around and spit the repugnant payload in our collective faces.
Every day is fragile -- so fragile that we,
THE REAL DECIDERS, could decide to quit our jobs, turn off our blogs, throw all pretense of civility to the wind, and bring civil war to you. The day that happens is the same day the Big collective Washington cock isn't the last thing you'll be choking on the business end of.
That's a cold promise.

Hilary Clinton Finds Mirror - Sees Dead People
From
The New Pravda:
Several advisers, friends and donors said in interviews that they had urged [Sen. Clinton] to call her vote a mistake in order to appease antiwar Democrats, who play a critical role in the nominating process. Yet Mrs. Clinton herself, backed by another faction, never wanted to apologize — even if she viewed the war as a mistake — arguing that an apology would be a gimmick.
In the end, she settled on language that was similar to Senator John Kerry’s when he was the Democratic nominee in 2004: that if she had known in 2002 what she knows now about Iraqi weaponry, she would never have voted for the Senate resolution authorizing force.
Yet antiwar anger has festered, and yesterday morning Mrs. Clinton rolled out a new response to those demanding contrition: She said she was willing to lose support from voters rather than make an apology she did not believe in.
“If the most important thing to any of you is choosing someone who did not cast that vote or has said his vote was a mistake, then there are others to choose from,” Mrs. Clinton told an audience in Dover, N.H., in a veiled reference to two rivals for the nomination, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois and former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina.
After that, she might as well announce Lieberman as her VP and run on the Republican ticket ...

The A-List Blogosphere Sells Out Again
Over the course of the last week or two, a couple of leftwing bloggers received jobs with the John Edwards Campaign -- Amanda Marcotte of
Pandagon and Ms. Shakes of
Shakespeare's Sister -- and it raised the hackles of
William Donahue of The Catholic League who, as far as I'm concerned, would've had a promising carreer in managing professional boxers had it not been for his doppleganger Lou Douva beating him to the punch (in more ways than one, of course -- Lou Douva clearly got the brains out the experiment), but instead he decided to become a crank, illogical, boneheaded asshole and helmed an institution that typically embarrasses the majority of the Catholics he sanctimoniously wraps himself with:
The Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights has criticized Senator John Edwards, a candidate for the US presidency, for hiring staff members with a record of vituperative anti-Catholic rhetoric.
The Edwards campaign recently took on two women to work on its internet operations: Amanda Marcotte as blogmaster, and Melissa McEwan as netroots coordinator. Bill Donahue, the president of the Catholic League, called attention to the viciously anti-Catholic statements the two women have posted on other internet sites.
Amanda Marcotte has written that “the Catholic church is not about to let something like compassion for girls get in the way of using the state as an instrument to force women to bear more tithing Catholics,” Donahue noted. After an obscene reference to the Virgin birth, she commented that if Mary had aborted, Catholics would “have to justify your misogyny with another ancient mythology.”
Melissa McEwan, on a different web site, referred to the “wingnut Christofascist base” for President Bush’s popularity. Referring to religious conservatives with an unprintable term, she asked why they do not “understand about keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds, and our families?”
Senator Edwards, Bill Donahue commented, “is a decent man who has had his campaign tarnished by two anti-Catholic vulgar trash-talking bigots. He has no choice but to fire them immediately.”
It took a few days, but the Edwards Campaign did
respond to the charges in what I contend is nothing more than a ridiculously schoolmarming and idiotic dressing down of the very bloggers he hired in the first place, but at least he didn't fire them:
Former Senator John Edwards (D-NC) announced today, at his blog, that two bloggers who have gotten the campaign in "hot water" would not be fired, even though he was "personally offended" by some of the things they have written in the past.
Stating that he believes everyone deserves a "fair shake," the 2008 presidential contender said that both bloggers "assured" him "that it was never their intention to malign anyone's faith."
"The tone and the sentiment of some of Amanda Marcotte's and Melissa McEwan's posts personally offended me," Edwards writes at his blog. "It's not how I talk to people, and it's not how I expect the people who work for me to talk to people."
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but that kind of intolerant language will not be permitted from anyone on my campaign, whether it's intended as satire, humor, or anything else," Edwards blogged.
"But I also believe in giving everyone a fair shake," Edwards continued. "I've talked to Amanda and Melissa; they have both assured me that it was never their intention to malign anyone's faith, and I take them at their word."
Edwards added, "We're beginning a great debate about the future of our country, and we can't let it be hijacked. It will take discipline, focus, and courage to build the America we believe in."
In response to Edwards's refusal to fire Amanda and Melissa (which appears at a rightwing place I will not link to), Donahue of
The Catholic League trumps his initial "Termination Fatwah" with another fatwah (and
may have even broke the law in doing so):
John Edwards has apparently decided that there is more to be gained by aligning himself with the cultural left than by standing on principle and firing the Catholic bashers on his payroll. Had anyone on his staff used the ‘N-word,’ he or she would have been fired immediately. But his goal is to loot the pockets of the Soros/Hollywood gang, and they—like him—aren’t offended by anti-Catholicism. Indeed, they thrive on it.
Edwards said today that ‘We’re beginning a great debate about the future of our country, and we can’t let it be hijacked.’ I have news for him—the Catholic League—not Edwards—will decide what the debate will be about, and it won’t be about the nation. It will be about the glaring double standard that colors the entire conversation about bigotry.
Of course, Donahue and
The Catholic League wants to shift the debate away from the nation because he and his fellow Rightwing cranks know that they'll lose their sorry, fake Christian, waterboarding, Pro-Bush, torturelitarian, Tali-Born Again asses in such a debate, evidenced by the very midterm elections this past November that swept the very "ownership society" that ruined our country in the first place out of office.
But an interesting thing has transpired amongst the left Blogopshere since this entire Edwards/Donahue debacle that I was unaware of until just moments ago. With a tip of of the TBT tin hat to Fixer at Alternate Brain, many of the pompous, e-lite, Blog-Ad riddled A-List liberal blogs such as DailyKapitalist (AKA "DailyKos"), Atrios, and most likely
his twin blog Atrios II (AKA "AmericaBlog") are combing through their respective blogrolls all of a sudden and weeding out some of "the ugly cousins" of the B-List and C-List that were on their blogrolls. Amongst those blogs whacked Sopranos style were
The Booman Tribune,
The Rude Pundit, and Mary Scott O'Connor's blog
My Left Wing, the latter of which
doesn't take it lying down:
Yeah, I got me a little shock when I returned to blogging to find myself summarily dismissed from Markos's blogroll (and, not incidentally, instantly devalued on Google and every other search engine out there) -- ostensibly because he's streamlined the blogroll to include only electoral and state democratic blogs and "blogs he likes to read" ...
What happened to helping each other out? What happened to throwing the ladder back down? Seriously -- what does it COST the bigger bloggers to expand their blogrolls? Inches of space on an infinitely long page? Because it sure as hell costs the smaller bloggers to have been disappeared from those front page blogrolls.
Booman. Dropped. The Rude Pundit -- dropped. WTF? These are legitimate sites with longstanding audiences and membership. So... Wait a minute. Is this a question of being an EMBARRASSMENT with the more Establishment types with whom you now consort, having successfully crashed the gate?" Are we now your embarrassing cousins? Sure, you'll be happy to glad-hand with us at the YKos family reunion, but QUICK, hide the nutty aunts when there's company around?
This Amnesty bullshit and what it represents is much bigger than it looks. Markos and the Big Boys of Blogging are marching toward the Rubicon, if they haven't already reached or crossed it.
As it is, they hopped on the Irony Express to Slippery Slope Valley a looong time ago, and if you don't know what I'm talking about, pick up a copy of Crashing the Gate --
~~~ and by the way... Gate? There's only one way in?~~~
and read just about any passage from "The Gravy Train" or "Civil War," two of the most powerfully accurate and scathing chapters in the Armstrong - Moulitsas tome.
So, what's it gonna be, boys? Values, principles, ethics, morals, ideas, solutions -- or WIN WIN WIN? Because when I RE-read Gate, I get the creepy-crawlies every fucking time you reference the Republicans's methods, strategies and results ADMIRINGLY.
And thus is how the A-List blogosphere has fulfilled the prophecy -- one intially heralded by the sorely departed Billmon -- of the A-List "Blogebrities" within the entrenched A-List elite selling out to the highest bidder, in this case the highest bidder being the entitlement to continue adorning the CNN and MSNBC news sets by throwing the "ugly cousins" under the bus and off their blogrolls.
Let's be brutally honest here: the last thing Moulitsas, Black, and Aravosis and any A-List blogger who gets to appear on TV or Cable regularly wants to do is to be invited onto that state-of-the-art, HDTV compliant, multi-million dollar studio under the pretense of discussing Bush or Election 2008 only to discover that the MSM is going to corner their sorry asses -- in light of the Edwards Campaign/Catholic League debacle -- to explain why some of us dirty, unwashed, uncouth, mouthy bloggers amongst the B and C-lists are adorning their beautiful blogrolls.
They'll suddenly have to pick sides; have to throw somebody under the bus LIVE on TV in order to maintain their entitlement to primp and preen themselves on those glorious CNN and MSNBC HDTV compliant studio sets ... so who do you think they'll toss under the bus -- the MSM that gives them access, or the "ugly cousins" of the Blogopshere that have basically embarrassed them by proxy through the Catholic League/Edwards flap?!?
It's a no-brainer, hence their scrubbing us scraply, homely, ugly and mouthy B and C-listers from their blogrolls. It the flip-floppery of John Kerry meets the hypocracy of Jeff Gannon -- they were all for us ... until that Edwards/Donahue stink turned them against us.
In their A-List "Entitlement Culture" sanctimony, people like MSOC, Booman, Shakes, Amanda, The Rude Pundit, me, or anyone else now has to "take one for the team" in order for the good liberal Democrat guys to win in 2008 as well as make these self-important A-List prima donnas Blogebrity motherfuckers feel better about themselves, and maybe lessen the likelihood of the MSM cornering them. It's shady and shows exactly how the "meritocracy" in the Blogosphere works: in a top-down nature -- exactly like the crony Capitalism the likes of Markos, Atrios, and Aravosis not only champion but have brought to the blogosphere as their sole business model, and are now forced to add another padlock to the gate surrounding their gated communities.
I'm not taking one for the team because, by their actions with their own blogrolls, shows that there is no real team unless they get to be "The Decider-Ictator" of all of Blogtopia (y!
sctp!). They can kiss my white ass, and they can't kiss it unless I Crash Their Fuckin' Gate ...
UPDATE: Both Shakes & Amanda have resigned from the Edwards Campaign and posted their reasons at their respective blogs. Also, this diary posts
here from MLW should be worth the read considering the context.
2012 -- The New Age Of Enlightenment
The following was written in late November of 2006 and, after incubating on my desktop since then, I finally decided to make minor revisions and publish it here on TBT. I don't know if its good, bad, or ugly as I lost all sense of perspective sometime after the 4th paragraph and, at this point, I've got too many text documents taking up space on my desktop that apathy has set its dirty claws in and convinced me to just be happy to be rid of it. --S--In the heydays of the 1990s, Ted Turner's professional wrestling organization WCW made a last ditch effort to dethrone Vince McMahon's ratings Goliath -- the WWE -- from the top of the industry's dominion by turning Hulk "Hollywood" Hogan into a heel, allying himself with the rogue New World Order (nWo) made up of former WWE wrestlers Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Playing the evil villain roll very well, Hogan shed the old and tired buzzphrases of "eat your vitamins and say your prayers" and adopted some of the most belligerent rhetoric to whip the audiences into a hateful frenzy week after week.
Then one night while Hogan and his NWO goons celebrated in the ring after destroying another wrestler, the sound of bagpipes started to drown out the NWO's music and, out from backstage, appeared Hogan's long-time Scottish nemesis Rowdy Roddy Piper, who entered the ring, looked a shocked and bewildered Hogan in the eye and said six wonderful words that made the crowds rejoice: "I am here to break your monotony!"
America's political and media system has since resembled what can now be considered ancient pro-wrestling storylines and angles. The Bush Administration is "Hollywood" Hogan, the Republican party of crooks and criminals are the NWO, the Democratic party is the locker room full of good guys who could take them all on if it weren't for the Stockholm Syndrome (and corporate bribes) holding them in complete and utter paralysis, and the mass media as the marketing and distribution cartel of it all.
The only thing missing, unfortunately, is a figure to stand up, brandish its pristine spinal column to the heavens, and declare to all of them that he's arrived to systematically break all of their repulsive monotonies -- a monotony of wars, a monotony of dead soldiers, a monotony of dead Iraqi civilians, a monotony of hundreds of thousands of veterans that experience homelessness per year, a monotony of a still struggling New Orleans from the effects of Hurricane Katrina a year ago, and the biggest most ridiculous monotony of them all: the monotony of "Entitlement Culture" amongst the rich monied tax-break collecting bourgeois Capitalist elite.
The reason why this figure hasn't arrived on the scene yet to totally and unapologetically speak truth to power is because of three reasons. First, history hasn't provided any example of such a figure crawling out of the woodwork; at least not an example of a person that wasn't already a bought and paid for stooge of the great Corportocracy. Even in the days of Susan B. Anthony and Rosa Parks, no politician came along, saw their respective plights, and chose to help empower them. Tales such as that are limited to Hollywood movies and assorted fiction novels on a Borders bookshelf (including the mother of all fiction tales -- The Bible -- but that probably goes without saying).
On the contrary, the opposite happened -- Susan B. Anthony and Rosa Parks respectively and accurately came to the well-reasoned logical conclusion that if they waited for such a figure to come along and empower them, they'd be waiting forever whilst having to languish under the oppressive boots of patriarchy and segregation respectively. Thus, they chose to stand up and empower themselves, to which the results are now very obvious but, of course, not until after a long hard brawl.
That leads me to the second reason: such a figure can not be a politician and instead must be a virtual nobody amongst the American poor and middle class citizenry -- an American who has finally reached the ends of their patience and tolerance, experiences a Howard Beale moment either at home or while wage-slaving at their job, and then proceeds to scoop up a folding chair or two-by-four, and make a mad dash for the squared circle.
The third and final reason is sad but still must be dignified: such a common poor or middle class citizen hasn't reached that zenith yet. Oh, they've reached it mentally, of course. That is evidenced by the recent mid-terms elections where the majority of American people decided to use John Bolton's upper-lip as a unilateral push broom to help sweep the Republicans and NeoCons into the dustbin where they belong. Another piece of evidence is in the Blogosphere where millions of people around the world flock like mayflies to A-list liberal blogs such as DailyKOS, Firedoglake, and Crooks & Liars to get their news and critical analysis, perhaps even to make a comment of their own. When it came to reaching that mental zenith, the blogosphere and its readers were leagues ahead of the majority of the American people at the polls last November.
But neither of them have reached it physically or spiritually; at least not to the point of scooping up that folding chair and vowing to go to the mattresses with their taskmasters and that is evidenced among the majority of the American people realizing way too late just how badly the MSM and the Bush Administration deliberately misled them over the last 6 years for ratings, access, tax breaks, and corporate profits that they otherwise could've corrected on Election Day 2004. It's also evidenced among the Blogosphere and its readers in the fact the Blogosphere -- for the most part -- allows these crimes to continue since the longer their readers prefer or continue to keep reading blogs instead of taking their rage and contempt to the streets, the benefits go directly to the criminals and profiteers. I myself am guilty of this very sin and, like most blog readers, I guess I'm waiting for a bunch of other blog readers to get of their dead asses first. One person revolutions never work; just puts that person in jail (or worse - Gitmo/Abu Grahaib).
Barring an attack on Iran, I'm convinced this won't happen until between 2009 and 2011 mainly because the American people -- even when their tolerance and patience has reached epic proportions -- still finds it within themselves to grant the undeserving Democratic Party (e.g. The "Rent-To-Ownership-Society") one final stay of execution masquerading under the rubric of a diplomatic last chance to rescue this nation. When they fail (and notice I said when and not if), all bets will be off, the masks will fall away, and we will witness our own "Concentration Camp" moment as scores and scores of American poor and middle class people leave the confines of their cable-ready, propaganda-filled, internment camps and take it to the streets as they march against their oppressors. Whether they're armed with folding chairs and two-by-fours or with pistols and shotguns matters little. As STYX's Tommy Shaw sings "the jig is up - the news is out". The American people will become renegades -- much scarier renegades for the great Corportocracy because they will be armed with two things that frighten them more than folding chairs, two-by-fours, pistols and shotguns: "Murika Hatin'" passionate activism coupled with "Saddam Lovin'" pesky agendas.
Nothing is more putrid to our ruling, monied, and pampered elite than the idea of common middle class and poor Americans empowering themselves though partisan activism and open agendas simply because the ruling elite believe they -- and only they -- are entitled to be activists and have agendas whilst the rest of the unwashed masses are supposed to mindlessly adhere to. The passionate activism among the poor and middle classes of Americans will channel Roddy Rowdy Piper as they shout "
BREAK THE MONOTONY" and their agenda will be laid out crystal clear when they respond with another shout of "
BUST THE CORPOTOCRACY!" in response. There will be no safe haven for the CEOs of CBS/Viacom, News Corp, Disney, GE, AOL/Time Warner, Halliburton, Exxon-Mobil, and the rest of the Corportocracy who profited (and keep profiting) from their criminal and immoral assault of the people of Iraq and America.
Despite all the death, doom, and destruction our elected and bribed officials will wage between now and 2011, something remarkable and awe-inspiring is already happening underfoot, intent to catch on and snowball from there on out and the only thing hindering that remarkable event is the final edifice of Christian fundamentalisms' black tower of hubris still stands but not for much longer.
A lot of Christian religious shysters over the decades -- predominately the prophecy mavens -- have been enamored with the year 2012. They believe that their beloved Rapture and the end of the world will occur before then since, according to them, the Mayan calender doesn't go beyond 2012. Of course, any logical and well reasoned being knows that the Mayan Calender (as well as Planet Letdown here) will indeed go beyond 2012, especially if we manage to impeach Bush and Cheney and turn them over to The Hague afterwards as well as reclaim the media from crony Capitalistic CEOs by repealing the 1996 Deregulation Act and reinstating The Fairness Doctrine.
But could it be possible that they've misread the prophetic tea-leaves? Could it be possible that the Mayans have accurately foretold that 2012 will usher in a new era of Enlightenment centered around logic, reason, common sense, and critical analysis? An era where the returning good sense of our nation comes full circle to return yet again; ushering in a new age of Enlightenment similar to the old Enlightenment that brought America her initial brilliant yet fallible forefathers? An era where human rights trumps the entitlement culture of fame, fortune, empire, and exorbitant profit?
How wonderful would it be that the new Enlightenment inspires the American people to take up John Bolton's upper-lip all over again and proceed to push-broom not just the aforementioned pro-Capitalist religious shysters and prophecy mavens irrevocably into history entirely but also their worthless pro-Capitalist Republican and Democratic Party brethren, along with all the prime time/AM Radio pundits we find ourselves plagued with?
If I may channel Martin Luther King:
I HAVE A DREAM -- and that dream is being made manifest. Over the course of the next few years, the "War on Religious Hubris" that the rightwingers and Christian fundies erroneously refer to as a "War On Christmas" will grow into a deafening crescendo to the point where Wal-Mart cashiers and restaurant waitresses will gladly risk termination and the loss of tips by reminding all the spoiled rotten 21st century Christian-American "Disciples of O'Rielly" that 1st century Christians suffered far, far, far worse persecutions and tribulations than being told "Happy Holidays" by somebody on minimum wage standing next to a cash register way too small to hold a Roman Colosseum and a herd of hungry lions, and therefore should take their purchases, have a "Merry Christmas", and grow the hell up.
And may the Gods bless those waitresses and retail cashiers and regale all the sanctimonious and pious to the proverbial outer darkness where there's not only much weeping and gnashing of teeth but empty office freezers save for the Senator, lobbyist, or fundamentalist preacher stuffed therein.
Change Of Direction
Despite announcing my slow return to blogging a few weeks (months?) back, there's a lack of posts lately on TBT that have made people think otherwise. It isn't because I've ran out of things to say. Far from it. It's more or less a combination of things -- the home life is a complete and total hell which is too long of a story to sort out let alone post about, my own mental and physical health is marching ever so slowly southward, I've still got a fuckload of things to say about politics, Bush, Religion, and the media but being on a 28.8 dial-up connection (38.6 on good sunny days) leaves little time to broaden my own knowledge let alone pass along any possible brain droppings of my own here, and to be brutally honest, when I think about blogging, I've gotten to the point where I'd rather talk about things other than Bush/Religion/Politics/Media that make us the same than the items that continue to either divide us or serve as more preaching for the choir.
Even during my brief hiatus up until now, I still managed to preach to the choir in the comments sections at Alternate Brain, Moon Of Alabama, and Shakes Manor and I'm starting to believe that the parishoners amongst those blogs (well, those few parishioners who might actually care - if any) already know what my opinion on most matters is going to be that they could parody either my eloquence or over-the-top hyperbole, and come frighteningly close to the bullseye. As a result, I've seen little to no reason to either echo on this blog exactly the things I'm saying in their respective comments sections. Cross posting might be great for convenience, but the last thing I want to do as a blogger is to consolidate the very medium I use for communication by elevating cross-posting to such levels of expectation that convenience itself soon becomes a sort of vanity by syndication, and thus making me no different than the consolidated, vain, and syndicated opinion mavens of the MSM.
That doesn't mean I'm going to stop preaching to those respective chiors. No, it just means that there's got to be a tangible difference between the Sizemore one reads in a Haloscan and the Sizemore they read here on TBT and I believe that difference might just be better served by not preaching to the allready converted masses and not providing another tenor to the echo on this blog, and like I said above, I'm becoming more attracted to lightening people's moods by posting about other things that make us the same as opposed to further darkening their moods with our simular views of Bush, politics, the war, etc. that simply won't be changing until either the Chimptastic motherfucker and his humpbacked and snaggle toothed Vice President is either removed from office or realizes within their last convulse of death, the only thing that was in its "last throes" all this time was their own central nervous systems. The rightwingers can claim all they want that such feelings or beliefs are the result of what they call "Bush Derangement Syndrome" but everyone knows that not only are they full of shit with such Fristian clinical observations, but if it wasn't for
their "Bush Derangement Syndrome" 6 years ago, we'd have President Al Gore right now instead of Decider McDumbfuck and probably 3000+ more American troops alive and spending time with their families instead of having to meet their maker.
And with that, my next post here I hope lightens your mood, and cracks you up, or gives you hope however fleeting it may be because, if you're anything like me, you could use a hell of lot more laughter now than anger and tears. I know I do, and it came to me with the following lyrics from
"Stop Knockin" by Tommy Shaw ...
Busted and broke
And to old to toke
I'd pay somebody money
If they'd tell me a joke ...
I can sure personally identify with those words for I am indeed busted and broke and would certainly pay someone in Monopoly money if they'd just tell me a really good whopper. And I'd like to think I'm too old to toke but ol'
Fixer & Gordon would probably not only beg to differ but introduce me to a friend of theirs:
Gord: Gotta lovely lass here that wants to meet ya, Sizemore!
Me: Is her name Mary Jane?
Fixer: Yea-no! Um, her name's Anita. Yeah, Anita!
Me: Uh-huh. And her last name is 'Bonghit', right?
Gord: Si, si, Senor!
Fixer: *coughs*
I'd probably be pleased to meet her all over again.
