The Jesusonian Republic Of South Carolina

From a post at AmericaBlog comes a report in the LA Times that the Taliborn Again are intent on staging a county-by-county, district-by-district coup de tat in the red state of Sawth Kay-ro-lye-neh ...

DiMartino, who drove here recently to look for a new home, is a member of Christian Exodus, a movement of politically active believers who hope to establish a government based upon Christian principles.

At a time when evangelicals are exerting influence on the national political stage — having helped secure President Bush's reelection — Christian Exodus believes that people of faith have failed to assert their moral agenda: Abortion is legal. School prayer is banned. There are limits on public displays of the Ten Commandments. Gays and lesbians can marry in Massachusetts.

Christian Exodus activists plan to take control of sheriff's offices, city councils and school boards. Eventually, they say, they will control South Carolina. They will pass godly legislation, defying Supreme Court rulings on the separation of church and state.

"We're going to force a constitutional crisis," said Cory Burnell, 29, an investment advisor who founded the group in November 2003.

Ooooh, but the best line of the article is the next sentance:

"If necessary," he said, "we will secede from the union."

THANK YOU, JEEEEE-SUSSSS!!!!

That line alone is the absolute best news to come out of rightwing, Republican-voting, Dollar-whoring, Poor-Despising, America-hating Christian Fundamentalism ever. EVER! It's making me so happy that I'm seriously considering starting of PayPal account so that TBT can collect donations on their behalf in order to ensure the Taliborn Again's coup de tat is a success so that their subsequent succession from the Union is hastened.

This will allow all the rich, white, Republicans within the Taliborn Again to foot the bill and the burden for every single problem in South Carolina. Let 'em pay for their own paved rodes and STOP signs along with building their own economy that must sink or swim without a single red cent from Federal coffers. Let's see if rich, white, Republican, Christian fundamentalist schysters such as Pat Robertson and Dr. Charles Stanley has the "Christian Courage & Spirit" (read: testicular fortitude & generosity) to take on the financial responsibility of every single South Carolina family on welfare. In other words, let's all just give 'em enough "Christian" rope to hang their own "Christian" asses with.

Sound like a plan?

Oh, wait -- you're a deeply concerned/moderate/liberal South Carolina resident and can't afford to move out of the state to avoid the Taliborn Agains coup, eh? Fine, I'll start up another seperate PayPal account for contributions from other like-minded, concerned people so that folks like you can get the fuck out of Dodge and relocate to a more tolerable state. You know, where the skies and the people are more -- uh, how can we say it -- BLUE?
